Successful online tee-shirt business
The Brief
To design an identity for Tee Please Bob and develop an online presence to show its tee designs and products. The website also needed a basket and checkout system to enable people to buy the products online, safely and securely.
The Solution
Armed with some inspiration from that popular student quiz show of the late 80s (you know the one!), work on the Tee Please Bob identity started in earnest. The logo had to be kept simple as it was going to used on a variety of different mediums, so a quirky but readable font was chosen and a simple motif of a tee shirt added.
With the easy part over, the planning began on the website. One main requirement was to showcase the products in a clean and easy-to-use way and make the navigation of the site as simple as possible.
XHTML and CSS were used to construct the foundations of the website, making it easier to look after its content and styling. A big bonus to using tidier and more compliant coding practices meant better readability of the website by more browsers, platforms and search engines.
Flash was used to make the product interface. It enables visitors to pick and choose designs and colours for various items of clothing, all in one place. Customers can then browse the various ranges and easily add items to the shopping basket.
Which brings us neatly onto the eCommerce side of the project. The client had already spent the time getting set-up for online sales before the project started and had decided to go ahead with Protx for handling the secure payment processing. We made a shopping basket that holds a customer's order and a checkout system that totals the costs and lets them enter their name and address. All this was linked to the secure server where the customer can then finish the transaction, safely and securely.
Many visitors to the website enjoy the clarity and organisation of the website content and find it easy to choose and buy products. Nearly all recommend it to others.
And, it is also a website that keeps evolving, with more content and new services being added. A great website with plenty to offer.
